Shunts

The origin of the term "SHUNT" comes from english  verb "to shunt" (to slide ), which is taking into account the current to pass in a different, shorter way. Shunts are used in electronics for electrical current passes through a path with less resistance. A shunt may be used as a protection as well. When a circuit must be protected from overvoltage, the shunt is placed in a particular place so as to create short overvoltage ( bypass ) chain by overvoltage fell sharply and the current increases instantaneously, the fuse should exclude high current. Shunts are used in measuring the current when the meters can not measure too big current.
