This is not only inconvenient, requires some kind of qualification, but also with the improvement of the quality of the sound, of the picture, the different frequencies, the increase in quality, the improvement of the sound devices, the increase in the size of the screens, made the cables used so far and not efficient enough. This forced many companies in the audio-video environment to start working together and create a universal cable that meets the standards of technology and is easy for everyone to use. The most common are HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) and DisplayPort cables.

HDMI cables

One of the key benefits of HDMI cables is their ability to transmit both audio and video signals through a single cable, eliminating the need for multiple cables and reducing clutter. In addition, HDMI cables support high resolution, making them ideal for connecting devices that require high-quality visuals, such as 4K TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, laptops. HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cables have revolutionized the way we connect and transmit audio and video signals between devices. With the rise of high-definition television and digital content, HDMI cables have become a common sight in homes and businesses, eliminating the problem of errors and being easy for anyone to install.

Different standards are used to connect to different types of devices. We can note several of them as more important. DP - HDMI, DVI - HDMI and VGA - HDMI are mainly used for PC connection. RCA is used to connect to media players and audio systems. Type C - HDMI is a relatively new standard that is increasingly being used. Used to connect smartphones, tablets and laptops (especially Apple's new Macbooks) to monitors, TVs and projectors.

As with all audio-video cables, HDMI cables can have additional benefits that increase signal quality, ease of use and take reliability to a higher level.

DisplayPort cables

DisplayPort cables have become a staple in the technology world, facilitating the transmission of high-quality audio and visual signals between devices. DisplayPort cables were first introduced in 2006 by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) as a replacement for the outdated analog VGA and DVI connections. The first version of the DisplayPort standard offers a maximum bandwidth of 10.8 Gbps, which allows support for high-resolution displays and multiple monitors.

Despite their many advantages, DisplayPort cables have also faced criticism for their compatibility issues with older devices and the proliferation of different cable versions. Some users have expressed concern about the confusion surrounding the DisplayPort standards, with newer versions offering higher resolutions and faster data transfer rates.

The latest version of the DisplayPort standard, DisplayPort 2.0, is set to support resolutions up to 16K, refresh rates up to 240Hz and high dynamic range (HDR) images. These improvements will allow DisplayPort cables to meet the demands of emerging display technologies such as 8K TVs.

Which should we choose, DisplayPort or HDMI?

In the modern world of rapid development of technologies and their entry into everyday life and when they become more and more accessible to the average user, the high quality of the production of the cables and their universality and easy installation is more and more imperative. HDMI and DisplayPort cables are at the heart of modernizing and developing our digital world. However, when we have to choose a cable, it is important to know that DisplayPort is the more professional cable used and is mainly used when we need reliability in presentations and others, however, it has a more limited set of devices with which it works. If we need it for home or office or for unpretentious solutions then HDMI cables are the better solution. Choosing an HDMI cable does not make it with lower quality when transferring picture or sound, but only gives greater functionality from a set of devices such as game consoles, DVD players, laptops and other technological devices that have a higher great variety in the home.
