Splitters and extension cords are devices that help us expand the number of electrical devices we can use at the same time or extend the length of the power outlet cords we use. They are essential in our modern world, where every household has many electrical appliances and there are not always enough sockets or we need electricity in a place where the necessary power supply is not available.
With the help of splitters, however, this is no longer a problem. They allow us to connect more devices to a single outlet, thus optimizing the use of electricity. Power strips are very convenient and easy to use. They are compact and portable, which allows us to use them both at home and at work or even when we travel. They differ in type, cable length and number of sockets depending on the needs and working conditions.
Splitters and extension cords are a combination of a plug, cable, coupling or junction box. Each of the components is not only an important part of the correct operation of the splitter or extension cord, but also a consumable that must be monitored and replaced regularly for the safe operation of electrical appliances.
Electrical plug
Electrical plugs are used to connect the cables of electrical appliances to the mains. Shuko-type plugs and sockets are approved as a standard in Bulgaria and the EU. Plugs are usually single-phase or three-phase.
Electrical coupling
Electrical sockets are sockets and serve to connect the plugs of electrical appliances to the network.
Types of plugs and sockets
Depending on the electrical distribution network, electrical couplings and plugs are different in type and material they are made of, depending on the voltage they have to withstand and the electrical appliances they have to supply. There are also different types, depending on the country and contact system of the electrical network in which they are used:
Type A - mainly used in Mexico, USA, Japan, Canada
Type B - mainly used in Mexico, USA, Japan, Canada
Type C - widely used in Europe, Asia and South America
Type D - used for electrical appliances mainly in India
Type E - mainly used in France, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium and Slovakia
Type F - used almost everywhere in Russia and Europe
Type G - some of the countries where it is used are Malta, Great Britain, Malaysia, Ireland and Singapore
Type H - mainly used in Israel and the Gaza Strip
