Unique spring terminal technology by Wago

WAGO® GmbH & Co is a German company established in 1951 in Minden, Germany. On April 27, 1951, the two brothers Heinrich Nagel and Friedrich Hohorst bought the patent for the automatic spring terminal technology, later the company was joined by investors Wagner and Olbricht, who sponsored the company and after whom the company was named (WAG-O) . Thus, the first terminal with a spring was launched on the market, which solved many problems in that time. In 1961, the company had more than 20 employees, and in 1966, the material used to make the thermoplastic terminals was changed to polyamide. Later, the developers developed the technology by adding and developing various connectors as well as soldering terminals, which gave them the opportunity to impose themselves on the market for electrical installations and lighting. Wago® terminals thus become the first VDE-certified automatic spring terminals. In 1977, they developed a new technology, the so-called Cage Clamp, which later became the industry standard. In 1990, Wago® terminals were already standard and distributed in France, Switzerland, Austria, USA, Japan, Great Britain, Czech Republic and even India.
