Weidmuller® is a German company founded in 1950 in Germany by Carl August Weidmüller. Initially, the company developed as a textile factory. Gottfried Gläsel later joined the company as a sponsor and partner, and then became the sole owner. After 1943, due to WWII, the company needed to reorient itself on the market, then Gottfried Gläsel met the engineer Wilhelm Staffel, who was then part of AEG and part of the team to create the first milling machines, and later created the first Staffel terminal.

In 1948, Weidmuller® created the first plastic-insulated terminal block, and in 1952, it was presented at the Technology Fair, and in the same year, the first steel and thermoplastic-insulated terminal block was created for connection and clamping. After 1952, the company developed very quickly and expanded throughout Europe, America and Asia. In 1959, they created a subsidiary in England, which deals only with sales, later this also happened in Austria, France, Italy. In 1975, they expanded to Canada and Brazil. In 1980, Japan became the main supporter in distribution in Asia, and later Singapore was also included.
