Halogen lamps

A halogen lamp, also known as a tungsten halogen lamp or a quartz iodine lamp is an incandescent bulb, which has added a small amount of halogen such as iodine or bromine. The combination of the halogen gas and the tungsten incandescent filament  produces a cyclic halogen chemical reaction, which once again put the evapored tungsten in back onto the filament, thus increasing its life and maintain the cleanliness of the shell. Therefore, the halogen lamp can be operated at a higher temperature compared to the standard one, filled with gas on a similar power and service life, producing lighting with a higher illumination efficiency and color temperature. The small size of the halogen lamps allow them to be used in compact optical systems for projectors and lighting.
