Bimetallic thermal protectors are a bimetallic relay that functions on the principle of a bimetallic plate and, upon reaching a certain temperature, breaks the electrical circuit in order to protect the consumer connected to it from overheating, melting or fire.
Depending on the mode of operation, thermal protections can be automatic or manually reset. The automatic ones return to the initial position automatically after the temperature drops to normal, and the manual ones have to be manually returned to the initial position after the overheating problem is eliminated. Automatic thermal protections can be used as thermostats and sensors, and manually resettable ones are most often applied as final protections in electrical circuits.
