In order to choose a device with suitable power, it’s necessary that you consult a specialist. The power should be based on the consumers’ power and the load type.

the rated power has to be 20-30% higher than the consumer’s power if the load is active (heating elements, electric ovens, stoves, filament lamps, etc.) because of the loads’ high starting current. When the consumer is switched on and the power supply unit is used in short-term conditions, the load exceeds considerably its rated values;

when the power supply is used with consumers with inductive load, the power should be 3 to 5 times bigger than load power consumption (fluorescent lighting, electric motors, pumps, air conditioners, etc.);

when the device is used with consumers with capacitive load, the power has to be 5 to 10 times bigger than consumer’s load (impulse power supplies, LED drivers, etc.).
