A diode is a semiconductor electronic element that conducts an electric current in a p-n transition in one direction from positive to negative charged particles. A varicap is a diode-type electronic element whose internal capacitance can be changed by varying the reverse voltage. A varicap diode also called a varactor always works in reverse mode depending on the application and the capacitance of the P-N junction.
The property of the varicap diode to change the barrier capacitance makes it practically a capacitor whose value varies with the voltage. Its acto diode action is hardly used.
